Cincinnati Art in Bloom 2024

The phrase “Art In Bloom” is often used as the title of various exhibits in art museums around the country. The Cincinnati Art in Bloom event has been a bi-annual event since 2001. Florists choose artwork that will serve as inspiration and build a companion floral arrangement. Liz’s debut Art in Bloom exhibition earned them First Place in the Visitor’s Choice Awards! A total of 60 participants’ floral designs were displayed for four days around the entire museum.

Statement of Intent
“I chose “Undergrowth with Two Figures” by Vincent van Gogh as a challenge. I wanted to show off both the texture and color of his work in an eco-friendly, sustainable way by using compostable and reusable mechanics. The flowers I chose were key; the radiant yellow Alstroemeria and Solidago exudes warmth. Crisp white Alstroemeria and Limonium dances with ease through that warmth. Chartreuse green chrysanthemums visually transition to the textured foliage as the arrangement climbs vertically. Proud and tall blue delphinium emphasizes the drama of van Gogh’s blue tree trunks. I am still in awe of the power of flowers, even after working with them for 17 years. I believe in the ability of flowers to transcend any space into an enchanting and interactive experience.”

Liz was able to order a full size replica of Vincent van Gogh’s “Undergrowth with Two Figures.” Having a physical print for preparations was crucial in achieving the correct scale to Liz’s floral arrangement.
